TikToking The Library pt. 2

 After taking a browse on @ghvslibrary on TikTok, I've found some ideas from her videos that we can think of for our own library, both for our account and the learning commons in general.

Some ways we could spice up our tiktok:

💭educational tiktoks - making videos about the dewey decimal system, weeding and censorship, age appropriate vs age relevant, how to use things in the library, debunking stereotypes and misconceptions, librarian tips

💭diy's and crafts

💭Book talk videos! recommendations!!

💭Library tour

💭Use of trending tiktok sounds

Ideas for the library:

💭Makerspace!! (beading, knot bracelets, paper crafts, work trays)

💭GIANT UNO

💭Free bookmarks, pins, stickers

💭Book recommendation binder

Next, I read two articles provided by Ms. PJ in her blog post;

1. #BookTok: 5 Things Librarians Should Know – Don't Shush Me! (dontyoushushme.com)

This article is solely about BookTok, which is the bookworm side of TikTok, where people use their platforms to talk about anything to do with literature. It also focused heavy on the impact that #booktok has on the publishing industry and why librarians are recommended to keep up with the social media aspect of literature, to spread awareness and research books to add to a library.

2. TikTok: 23 Tips For Success – Don't Shush Me! (dontyoushushme.com)

For this article, I will go over the top 5 things from this article that will help us build success for our own library and social media;

i. Materials (using a tripod, ring light/camera lighting, microphones for creating quality videos)

ii. Consistency (regular posting, staying on brand, having a purpose for the account and basing your content within those lines, using the same handle for all of your library's social media)

iii. Content (Looking at other BookTokkers/Library accounts to form ideas, having video hooks that keep viewers interested, shorter videos are often better, being genuine and authentic with your demographic, shorter videos are often more rewarding, following trends, understanding what content has been most successful and being able to repeat it authentically, accessibility using proper text layouts and closed captioning)

iv. Engagement (using tiktok cross-platform, hashtags that are trending and go with the purpose of your content, responding to comments, interaction with other creators, having a Creator Account to view analytics)

v. Ya the last one was also titled engagement and then just closed the article so 4 key points will have to do.

Book Review - Comic Edition! (The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman)

 I've been a fan of the Walking Dead since the show came out back in 2010. Actually, I remember my first time watching it quite well. It...
